Description

Marine Structures delivered the $10 million Horn Island Passenger Facility Upgrade (HIPFU) in the Torres Strait, enhancing the ferry terminal with modern, safer, and more functional infrastructure. The project involved the design, manufacture, and installation of a 30m x 6.5m aluminium pontoon, gangways, abutments, DDA-compliant walkways, and associated works, with on-time and on-budget installation by Pacific Marine Group.

The facility now supports vessels up to 26 meters and includes features like wave protection, raised walkways for tidal surges, and separate zones for commercial and private use to improve safety and operations.
